The AIL Engineering Team was able to optimize both the wall area and the design to create a more economical solution on this overpass project for British Columbia Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (BC MoTI) on the Trans Canada Highway (Highway 1) in Salmon Arm West.
Versatile Grid-Strip System accelerates retaining wall construction
Plus, our Precast Panel Walls use our innovative Grid-Strip Soil Reinforcement System to retain the soil mass behind the precast retaining walls. The Grid-Strip makes it easier to store the materials on the job site and the walls easier to design and construct – resulting in greater project savings.
Collaborated with contractor on BC MoTI’s new retaining wall specification
The project was tendered while BC MoTI was updating their standard specification, so we took the extra time to work through the new standard specification changes with the contractor, Springline Construction, to ensure all of the new requirements were being met. They appreciated our level of support and collaboration throughout the project, from design optimization through to on-site support in the field.
This portion of the Highway 1 – Kamloops to Alberta program involves four-laning and other improvements along Highway 1 in West Salmon Arm, including intersection upgrades and construction of new frontage roads.
