This is a great example of a fast and economical bridge-replacement solution for a small rural municipality. The Main Haul Bridge Replacement project for the Rural Municipality of Keys No. 303 in Saskatchewan was part of a federal/provincial/municipal Investing in Canada plan that supported 30 infrastructure projects in the province.
AIL was selected to manufacture and supply three 3,000 mm Corrugated Steel Pipes to replace the small, aging timber bridge with an improved hydraulics solution.
Culverts needed to be delivered to the site quickly
With the expedited delivery requirements, we checked the freight costs and plant capacity with both our Westlock, Alberta, and Kenora, Ontario, plants. It turned out that Westlock was the best option for this project and we delivered on time and on budget. Unfortunately, the installation was delayed due to heavy rains, but eventually the installation went ahead smoothly.
AIL manufactures a complete range of drainage pipe and culvert systems
Our corrugated metal pipe products are available in a variety of materials, sizes, corrugation profiles, thicknesses and performance coatings to suit the challenges of virtually any application — stormwater, highway construction, railway, mining or forestry.
Corrugated Steel Pipe has a smaller carbon footprint than concrete*
In a 3,000 mm size, for example, Corrugated Steel Pipe’s carbon footprint is 74% smaller* than that of a Reinforced Concrete Pipe. Use the Carbon Footprint Calculator to see the difference. It’s easy!
