Solution was within the project’s green guidelines
If you’ve ever been to Salmon Arm on the majestic Shuswap Lake, you know what a special place it is. Just ask the folks at the local Askew’s Supermarket.
To help protect the lake’s habitat and save water for other uses, they installed a STORMAWAY Stormwater Management System under their parking lot as part of a mixed-use development incorporating living, shopping and socializing in the same location. AIL’s STORMAWAY solution was chosen for its ability to supply such a large reservoir at a competitive price while staying within the project’s green guidelines.
Now, instead of just flowing into Shuswap Lake, the rainwater from their roof and parking lot flows into a holding pond, through a bioswale and into the STORMAWAY System to be saved for landscape irrigation.
This custom-designed, polymer-laminated system was comprised of three runs at 25.85 m in length and 2700 mm in diameter, with two custom-fabricated elbows and a T-section to bring all of the runs together. It also has a sump in the bottom with an irrigation pump and filtration system.
