The AIL Group of Companies is pleased to announce the completion of another renewable energy project — a solar energy system designed to entirely power our 30,000 sf manufacturing facility in Westlock, Alberta. This follows the installation of over 1,000 solar panels to our two largest manufacturing plants in Ontario and many other sustainability initiatives at our locations across Canada.
This project is another major milestone in our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint toward net zero emissions by the year 2050. We would like to thank the AIL Westlock team for helping make this transition to clean, sustainable energy a reality in collaboration with Empower Energy and Westlock County.
Westlock system uses innovative bi-facial solar panels
This ground-mounted solar array leverages the latest in solar technology with bi-facial photo-voltaic panels that also capture secondary energy from light reflected off the ground. This innovation boosts energy output while keeping system costs efficient.
With a projected annual production of 118 MWh, it will produce energy equivalent to powering 10-12 homes and saves 77 tonnes of CO2 equivalents annually. That’s like taking a small neighbourhood off the grid or 17 cars off the road for a whole year!
The future of energy is here, and we’re proud to be a part of it. By switching to solar energy, we’re helping to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels, cutting down on greenhouse gas emissions and contributing to a cleaner, greener future. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue this exciting journey toward sustainability.
